RÖ’s Key Active Ingredients

Active ingredient

How do RÖ clients get the best results for their skin? We combine effective techniques and technology with scientifically-validated active ingredients.

An active ingredient is the powerhouse of any skincare formula, but they aren’t all made the same. An effective active ingredient is recognized by the body and is the catalyst for change within your skin. You can think of these ingredients like your “5 a day” — a necessity for consistent skin health. Just as your body can’t function optimally if you skip your fruit and veg, your skin can’t reach its highest potential without these clinically-proven ingredients.

We couldn’t boast about our skin knowledge without telling you our secret weapon: RÖ’s Ultimate Actives Complex. The complex is a powerful combination of actives that we use in all of our treatments which fall under 3 pillars; Protect, Repair and Activate.

Use these 3 pillars as guide for your skincare routine at home for the ultimate skin health:

01 Protect

We enlist potent forms of antioxidants including vitamins A, C, E, and B alongside safe sun protection ingredients.

Free radicals from the sun and pollution are unstable molecules that seek support from healthy cells. Antioxidants protect the skin’s precious DNA by stabilising free radical molecules and halting further cellular scavenging.

Here are a few of the protective ingredients we choose from…

  • Retinol (Vitamin A)
  • Beta Carotene
  • Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
  • Niacinamide (vitamin B3)
  • D-Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5)
  • Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12)
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Co-Enzyme Q10
  • Glutathione
  • Witch Hazel
  • Green Rooibos Tea Extract
  • Honeybush Tea Extract
  • Green Tea Extract (EGCG) Superoxide
  • Lycopene
  • Rosemary Leaf Extract
  • Organic and mineral UV filters

02 Repair

We heal the skin’s protective moisture barrier using hydrating and moisturising agents that mimic the natural moisture matrix of the skin. Once the barrier is intact, we see even better results from collagen-boosting peptides and reparative stem cells.

After the age of 25, we lose about one teaspoon of collagen each year (that’s 100 ml by the time we’re 45)! As collagen dissipates, wrinkles form and thinning skin allows increased loss of hydration, leaving the skin dull and sensitised. Repairing the skin’s moisture barrier with humectants and healthy oils — alongside activating new collagen production — plumps lines and promotes a healthy, hydrated glow.

Here are a few repairing ingredients to look for…

  • Vitamin A
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Glycosaminoglycan
  • Plant Oils
  • Humectants
  • Matrixyl® Peptides
  • Hyaluronic Acid Meiritage™
  • Even Skin Tone Seppiwhite™
  • Growth Factor Colostrum
  • Plant Stem Cells

03 Activate

Just like our skin’s collagen, other important functions become inactive due to the slowing lifecycle of skin cells. In order to maintain healthy skin and improve skin conditions, we use a combination of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA’s) and fruit enzymes to help the skin renew itself.

Using AHA’s, BHA’s and fruit enzymes assist the skin in its natural “shedding” process, which signals the skin to renew more quickly. In turn, this activates healthy functions of the skin to build new, healthy cells and allows for better delivery of other active ingredients — elevating their effects even further!

We reach for these acids and enzymes…

  • Lactic Acid
  • Glycolic Acid
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Asiatic Acid
  • Mandelic Acid
  • Papain Enzyme
